Buying Clothes For Your Body Type (Fashion Style)

Fashion Style

Clothing was initially designed as a manner of protecting ourselves from the cold and the elements. Since that time period clothing has evolved not only into an extension of our personality, but as a status symbol where the more well off individuals where dressed in finer cloth and jewels than those poorer. Today, while clothes are still used as a status symbol, it is easier to create the appearance of higher status by using the clothes you wear to accentuate your body in a manner reflecting those of higher status.
When clothes are worn correctly, flattering our body type, we look more refined, elegant and respectable. Wealthier individuals have the ability to buy clothes custom tailored for their bodies creating a flawless look, while others will buy clothes based upon how comfortable they are to wear, or because they like the color or fabric, or someone they know has something similar and they liked it on them. Clothes should be bought for their fit, not because something is comfortable, or someone else looked good in the item. The color or fabric of clothing shouldn't be the ultimate determining factor for a purchase either since fabrics can often be dyed.
Everyone has a body type, and it is how clothes fit your body type that should determine what you purchase. Clothes should fit your body, accentuate the best aspects of your figure, and minimize the less flattering aspects of your figure. It doesn't matter if you're male, female, petite, plus, apple or pear, there is something out there for everyone that will make you look impeccable, the trick is to know what type of body you have and to look for specific features that will help accentuate your assets.
The first step for dressing your body is to figure out what type of body type you have. Think about your best bodily features. Do you have nice legs? What about your arms? Next think about your more troublesome body areas. What do you wish to minimize? Do you have too much stomach? What about your hips? Try avoiding clothes that are fitted around your more troublesome areas, and choose silhouettes that help draw your eyes away from that particular area.
Once you figure out how to accurately dress your body type, shopping can actually become a pleasure, as you will find more flattering clothes to buy rather than clothes that make you feel bad about your body.

Wardrobe Makeover - Let's Revamp Your Wardrobe (Fashion Style)

Fashion Style

When was the last time you cleaned up your wardrobe? I did mine just yesterday.. after almost 2 years! And now my wardrobe is more organized, and the best part is, now I can pick out my outfit within minutes. So take my cue and give your wardrobe a makeover today - use my simple tips to revamp your wardrobe:
Pile up!
Make three piles - "yes", "maybe" and "trash".
And now sort your clothes into these three piles. More on how to sort below, so read on.
Start small
Pick out one stack of clothes at a time. Go through it one item at a time. Just make sure you have ample time in your hands to go through everything with an objective mind.
If you can't wear it, then trash it
Don't put your clothes in the "yes" or "maybe" piles, just because:
... one day you'll fit into those clothes
... someone special gifted those to you
... you have special memories associated with those clothes
... you like the color, or the cut, too much to trash it
Also, when sorting through each item, ask yourself two simple questions:
1. Will this look good on you?
2. Can you actually wear it?
Now, trash those items which make you answer "No" to any of the above questions, even if it means you're left with only a handful of clothes in your wardrobe.
Now that you've sorted out your clothes, place your "yes" piles back into your closet right away - make sure you have easy access to these piles of clothes.
Pack up your "trash" pile immediately for disposal. You can give it away to your maid, or donate it to some organization who needs old clothes for the poor.
Coming back to your "maybe" pile - look through each item again and again sort into "yes", "maybe" and "trash" piles. Repeat the process until you don't have anything in the "maybe" pile anymore.
And that's it - you've done it! Your revamped wardrobe is ready.

Five Fashion Trends to Avoid (Fashion Style)

Fashion Style

From the big hair and neon colours of the 80s to the muted tones and obsession with taupe, mauve, and oatmeal of the 90s, women's fashion is known for making dramatic changes. However, fashion is largely dictated by the whim of designers who are using rail-thin young women as models. These choices do not always flatter the average lady. Here are five current fashion trends that just don't translate to the majority of real women.
Skinny Jeans
Skin-tight denim only flatters the prepubescent form. If you are over the age of 16, a mother, or over seven stone, skinny jeans are not for you. Not only are they unflattering to the bum and hips, but they leave little to the imagination. This makes them inappropriate for anyone out of secondary school.
Huge Earrings
Designers have been trying to bring back gigantic, dramatic earrings for the past year or so. Don't fall prey to it. Having door-knockers on either side of your face is not attractive. Wearing them can also pull your lobes out of shape over time. If one is caught up in clothing or the strap of your handbag, your lobe can even be ripped! Keep your jewellery within normal proportions and give this fashion trend a pass.
Low-rise Jeans
The trend to wear your jeans very low on the hips only looks good if your body is completely flat from your ribs down. Read that part again: completely flat. If your torso or tummy rounds out even the slightest bit, the extra flesh will hang over the jeans. It's unsightly and a fashion that very few women can wear. While a waistline that is too high can make you appear heavier, a super-low waist has the same effect. Choose a mid-rise waist and don't be afraid to practise bending, sitting, and squatting in the changing rooms before purchasing them. This will ensure the jeans fit your properly.
Faux Fur
Even though it is fake, that doesn't mean it's attractive. Faux fur also has the added inconvenience of frequently shedding all over the rest of your outfit. Do you really want to walk around looking like you are the proud mum to 17 cats? Speaking of cats, some fur that is labelled as faux is actually cat or dog fur. This happens with clothing from foreign countries with alarming regularity, primarily Asia. If you are allergic to animals, fur of any kind is not a good idea.
Dramatic Cosmetics
Women's fashion has taken a decided turn towards brightly-coloured and dramatic make-up once more. While this may be acceptable for a young girl for an evening out, it has little place in an adult woman's beauty regimen. This also applies to glitter. Unless you want to be thought a tramp, keep your cosmetics low-key.
Women's fashion is ever-changing, but don't be seduced by these five faux pas. A polished, dignified appearance is far more important than following the whim of fashion designers.
